American Alligator&Carbon fiber

Contamination and outstanding technical experimentation with a mix of noble materials.

2018 is a truly special year for the Maison Tardini. To mark the 60th anniversary of this historical manufacturer specialised in producing American Alligator, it has drawn on its own savoir-faire to bring an entirely unique collection to life.
Inspired by the world of Aerospace, the two branches of research and development move at the same pace and give life to unique products with a three-dimensional effect, taking up a new material in Carbon fibre with a flexible feel and adapting it in order for it to match the American Alligator.
Perhaps not everyone is aware that carbon is at the root of organic chemistry, or that diamonds are one of its many forms. The Maison Tardini has decided to use this truly noble material to give its traditionally-oriented accessories a touch of modernity.
Carbon fibre is a next-generation textile with an astonishing lightness that can also boast an incredible amount of rigidity and resistance, compared to its low density. The fibres themselves, about 7-8 micrometres long, are woven like a fabric, which resin polymerisation then transforms into an extremely rigid material, very resistant and light. To be processed, it therefore requires precision down to the millimetre, from planning through to assembly.
The curiosity that has always animated the Maison’s creative department has now gone even further. It can take pride in creating a new finish for American Alligator which is not transparent, nor glossy or shiny, but has a unique opaque colour that gives the leather a soft and velvety appearance.
This striking result, the Carbon finish, is the fruit of the artisan mastery that distinguishes the Maison, established in 1958 in Modena. Carbon finish represents innovation and the innermost essence of science and design.
