Everything starts with an inspiration, which gives life to a sketch, and then moves on to the selection of materials and the construction of something unique and unrepeatable.
The inspiration for the new American Alligator F/ W Collection by Maison Tardini comes from Roman mythology, specifically from the messenger of the gods: Mercury.
Mercury is the correspondent of the Greek god Hermes, gifted with shrewdness and ingenuity, born from the relationship between Zeus and Maia. In ancient times, all those who had to do with fast movements, similar to those of the wind, addressed their prayers to Mercury / Hermes: travelers.
He is depicted in his capacity as a messenger, equipped for the journey with winged shoes (talaria) , a winged hat ( petasos) and the caduceus, or the stick, with two wings at the upper end and intertwined with two snakes.
The myth tells that Mercury one day separated two snakes that were fighting each other. The caduceus was therefore a symbol of peace and, consequently, also of prosperity and trade. However nobody knows that Mercury seems to be the first figure in the history of art to show a leather bag. The accessory is usually hidden from mortals, in depictions of Mercury, the bag is shown rather shamelessly, as a symbol of divine generosity.
Maison Tardini creates a unique luxury collection, where the impossible is not contemplated, creating ethereal shapes and volumes that aim for perfection, just like Mercury.
This “ancient bag” is transformed in harmonious, unique, and refined products, a result of passion, a sense of belonging to their land and a meticulous attention to the highest quality materials. The excellent choice of materials from the Italian soft slightly milled calfskin nappa to the important inserts in pickled and satiné American Alligator. The contrast between the two finishes, one shaded and the other with a vivid color, reflects the Tardini men’s accessories , where modern meets classic style.
All bags are lined in anti-fraying and stain-resistant “technical” jacquard silk. Externally there are zip pockets that characterize the front and back of the bag and lend themselves to a quick recovery of tablets or keys.

It all began with a legend of Chinese mythology to which the Maison wanted to pay tribute. The majestic beauty of the dragon is enhanced by the absolute refinement of this jewel buckle.
The belts in the Dragon Kings collection are the top creation of the Maison, made of American alligator in all its majesty with the collaboration of master goldsmiths who have skilfully brought to life the dragon kings of the Song Dynasty legend: Bailong 白龍(White Dragon), Qinglong青龍(Blue Dragon) , Xuanlong 玄龍(Black Dragon), Zhulong 朱龍( Vermilion Red Dragon) and Huanglong 黄龍(Yellow Dragon).
Much time and effort was devoted to the search and selection of materials and stones that would best emphasise the exuberant colours of the different dragons. Only thanks to delicate enamels on the scales and the red of the ruby eyes was it possible to achieve that ‘natural’ effect of surprising realism.
The precious cabochon “pearl” in the claws expresses the essence of its spirit which, according to tradition, represents the fertilized egg from which a new dragon will be hatched.
With a diameter of 6 mm, the “pearls” of the Dragon Kings are all different from one other:
- Pearl- Australian noble opal for the White Dragon
- Pearl- Ceylon sapphire cabochon 1 ct. for the Blue Dragon
- Pearl-Burma ruby cabochon 1 ct. for the Red Dragon
- Pearl-Jonquil sapphire cabochon 1 ct. for the Yellow Dragon
- Pearl-Black sapphire cabochon 1 ct. for the Black Dragon

Simple, square shapes with softly rounded corners, as well as models with inviting rounded triangular studs you’ll love to run your fingers over.
Each article is characterized by a double embellishment in satiné American Alligator and glossy calfskin leather, with special anti-scratch treatment.
Framed by the alligator and placed on both the front and back are two hexagonal plates set into an area specifically created to focus attention on them. The small Royal Tiger embellishment, enriched with enamels and a marquise-cut ruby, is positioned on the front, where it offers a counterpoint to the TARDINI logo plate, fashioned in palladium for the studded models and in dark ruthenium, which blends beautifully with the alligator, on the simpler pieces, offering a discreet, subtle glimmer.
